For the third consecutive week, Saturday Night Live has opened their ’show’ with a skit about Barack Obama. This week Barack Obama gets angry about the health care debate and hulks into “The Rock Obama”. Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, plays the transformed character.

Once again, Saturday Night Live opened with a spoof of President Obama. In this one, they poke fun at him being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

He states that he won for “not being George Bush”. He adds that he also “won the $70 million dollar jackpot in the Powerball lottery”. At the end, he states that he will meet with his financial team consisting of Tim Geithner, Ben Bernanke and Larry Summers … because they “do not make mistakes”.

In last night’s show, Saturday Night Live spoofed President Obama again. This time the focus was his utter lack of accomplishments during his first nine months in office. Well … he did claim two … “Jack” and “Squat”. :) And, he mentions FNC commentator Glenn Beck again.

Al Franken ascended Tuesday (2009-06-30) from the ranks of former “Saturday Night Live” comedians to an even more exclusive club, outlasting Republican Norm Coleman in an eight-month recount and courtroom saga to win a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Franken’s victory gives Democrats control of 60 seats in the Senate — the critical number needed to overcome Republican filibusters. When Franken is seated for Minnesota, which could come as early as next week, his party will have a majority not reached on either side of the aisle in three decades.

Coleman conceded the election hours after a unanimous state Supreme Court ruled that Franken — who moved into politics with books poking fun at conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh — should be certified the winner. In doing so, he pulled the plug on a bitter election that was ultimately decided by 312 votes out of nearly 2.9 million cast.

Highly anticipated on October 18, Sarah Palin dropped by NBC’s Saturday Night Live. In addition to her and the regular cast, Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg joined in skits. As in recent shows, Tina Fey performed her Sarah Palin spoof role and during the “Week-end Update” segment Amy Poehler performed “The Palin Rap”.

The appearance brought record ratings for Saturday Night Live, which drew its largest viewership in 14 years … 14-million viewers …“you betcha”.
