ObamaCare supporters have repeatedly criticized Republicans for their opposition AND for offering no ideas for health care reform. Their claims are wholly inaccurate regarding Republican alternatives. The following three plans offer to repair existing shortcomings without a government takeover of the entire health care system in America.

Sarah Palin’s Facebook page has gained more than 300,000 new supporters in the last two months. She gained over 100,000 of these in the last week. As of this writing, she has over 800,000 supporters.

This soaring trend is likely due to the fact that Palin is using Facebook as a podium. Armed with only a notebook computer and an Internet connection, she is arguably communicating her messages more effectively than President Obama with vast millions of tax payer dollars at his resolute disposal for enormous marketing campaigns.

She’s recently posted op-eds on hot topics such as federal stimulus programs, Cap and Trade, America’s use of foreign oil, and, of course, health care reform. When she referred to ObamaCare’s end-of-life counseling as “death panels” and labeled the system itself as “downright evil”, she got the attention of the White House. President Barack Obama and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs have both (derisively) mentioned her comments.

Senate Democrats are going to need help from Republicans to get President Obama’s ambitious plan to reinvent the health care system over the goal line, a top lawmaker, Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND), acknowledged on Sunday.

“Look, there are not the votes for Democrats to do this just on our side of the aisle,” said Conrad, the chairman of the powerful budget committee.

Even though the Democrats enjoy a majority in the Senate, some are skittish about the financial or political costs of the proposals.

And Republicans said they will continue their opposition to a plan they claim is simply a government takeover of private decisions.

“Republicans want to protect the right of Americans to make their own health care decisions, to pick their own doctors and their own plans,” said Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), “We could have a plan in a few weeks if the goal is not a government takeover. We’ve never seen the government operate a plan of any kind effectively and at the budgets we talked about.”

The way congress is worried about Carbon Dioxide, CO2, you would think none of them know that it is essential to all life forms.

“Carbon Footprint” is a cutesy name for making you or your company feel guilty about the amount of energy you use. We all contribute to the ‘greenhouse gas emissions’ that, according to the environmentalist, is causing ‘global warming’.

There is even a carbon footprint calculator to figure your footprint. You can check it out at CarbonFootprint.com. It will ask personal questions about your home, shopping habits, travel, diet, etc.

Not to worry. No matter how much ‘energy’ you may use, you may buy ‘carbon offsets’. But, according to the General Accounting Office (GAO) the carbon offsets ‘have no uniform quality assurance mechanisms as standards of verification and monitoring’. (Hint: your money may not help reduce CO2 emissions.)

For years now, Senator Jim Demint (R-SC) has stood steadfast in favor of fiscal responsibility in our federal government and has been active in prudent health care reform. Lately, though, these stands have positioned him directly against Barack Obama. In response, the President and the DNC have targeted the Senator with their ObamaThug tactics by deliberating publishing false claims against him in Greenville (his hometown), Columbia, and DC.

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) appeared on NBC’s TODAY Show Wednesday (2009-07-22) to discuss health care reform with host Matt Lauer. Senator DeMint held up the thousand-page government health care takeover bill that President Obama is pushing, and asked why the need to rush it through in two weeks when it doesn’t go into effect until 2013. DeMint also pointed out that many of the promises the President has made on health care simply do not match up with the actual policies he’s put forward.

The Obama administration is delaying release of a congressionally mandated report on the nation’s economic conditions, spawning speculation that it is trying to tamp down bad economic news to avoid further complicating the already fraught legislative debate over health care reform.

The report, which is normally published by late July, is being delayed by several weeks, the administration acknowledged on Monday. Officials said the hold-up is not unusual in presidential transition years, noting that Presidents George W. Bush and former President Bill Clinton each published their initial budget updates weeks late.

“Because of the unique circumstances of a transition year, we — like President George W. Bush in 2001 — are releasing the mid-session review a few weeks later than as is usual in non-transition years,” Kenneth S. Baer, communications director for the Office of Management and Budget, said Monday.

Asked about the speculation that the delay is linked to the ongoing health care debate, Baer responded: “I don’t deal in speculation. What I know is that in transition years past both the full budgets and Mid-Session Reviews have come out later than in non-transition years and this year will be no different.”

“The last time the president made grand promises and demanded passage of a bill before it could be reviewed, we ended up with the colossal stimulus failure and unemployment near 10 percent,” said Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC). “Now the president wants Americans to trust him again, but he can’t back up the utopian promises he’s making about a government takeover of health care. He insists his health care plan won’t add to our nation’s deficit despite the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office saying exactly the opposite. And today we learn that the president is refusing to release a critical report on the state of our economy, which contains facts essential to this debate. What is he hiding?

Background:
U.S. Senator Jim Demint (R-SC) is travelling across his home state this holiday weekend on a tour bus promoting his new book, Saving Freedom, and visiting Tea Party rallies. He stopped in our Barnes & Noble here in Myrtle Beach for a scheduled book signing Friday night.

Our rally here is on July 11th and his schedule will have him elsewhere. While in town though, our own GeekGirl2u arranged with his folks for him to speak with our Tea Party organizers after the event (she’s spoken with them a few times in the past two weeks).

Our group consists of over two dozen active volunteers, but only a handful of us made it this July 3rd for the book signing. (BTW, we formed a non-profit corporation a few weeks ago so that we can accept donations to fund our activities.) Frankly, we are quite grateful that he took 30 minutes from his very busy schedule to chat with us privately. Before this session, we were impressed with his voting record and his solutions to stop the slide into socialism. Afterward … and we talked about it for nearly two hours … we are convinced that this down-to-earth U.S. Senator is a national leader in the fight to take back our country.

There were a couple of moments when his sense of humor had us laughing. Irv, a 78-year-old Navy veteran, said, “Sir, I have a confession.” The Senator quipped, “Haven’t we had enough of those lately?” Irv then explained that he was a war veteran and has now been called a “right-wing extremist” by the current administration. Mr. Demint shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country.
