Dede Scozzafava, the Republican candidate, announced this afternoon that she is suspending her campaign for New York’s 23rd Congressional District. The state Assemblywoman has not thrown her support to either Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party candidate, or to Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate. The decision to suspend her campaign is most likely a boost for Hoffman who has been steadily gaining in the polls. (videos below)

Tonight on Fox News, Greta Van Susteren interviewed Newt Gingrich regarding his support of Dede Scozzafava over Doug Hoffman in the NY-23 congressional race. Defending party over principles, Newt proclaimed his continued support of pro-abortion, pro-Stimulus, Daily Kos candidate Scozzafava. A poll released today by the Club for Growth shows Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman surging into the lead in the special election in New York’s 23rd congressional district. He was recently endorsed by Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, Tim Pawlenty, Steve Forbes, and area TEA Party Organizers. (video below) The poll of 300 likely voters, conducted October 24-25, 2009, shows Conservative Doug Hoffman at 31.3%, moderate Democrat Bill Owens at 27.0%, liberal Republican Dede Scozzafava at 19.7%, and 22% undecided. The poll’s margin of error is +/- 5.66%.
