I want to share a link to a petition that is going to be sent to President Obama to tell him that we oppose having Gitmo terrorists coming to our state or anywhere within the U.S. Please sign and pass it on!
It was an enjoyable honor to attend the 912 March on DC. The 8-hour bus trip with fellow patriots concerned about big government growth added to the pleasure of participating in the largest political rally in our great nation’s history. In DC, attendees were not only friendly and respectful; but, we also left our nation’s capital free of litter. (video and photo gallery below)
Moreover, most media outlets have downplayed the huge attendance to the 912 March on DC. Was it 10,000? Was it 75,000? 1.2 million? 1.7 million? 2 million? For President Obama and his “mainstream media”, it must be like arguing over exactly how many drops of water are in the tidal wave that is bearing down on you!
Indeed, each of us who proudly joined the 2-million-man-march have 50 to 100 friends and family with similar convictions who were unable to attend. We fully recognize that when government makes our choices for us or limits them, tyranny prevails. When we can make our own choices, liberty prevails. We stand not for the vagaries of partisan politics; but, rather we unite together across party lines for protection of our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
What government first seeks to control, it taxes.
South Carolinians worked 94 days to meet their tax burden. If we use a five-day workweek, South Carolinians worked 18 weeks 4 days to pay for taxes. And this is down slightly because of the stimulus checks. In a 52-week year, you spent 36%, over a third, of your time working to pay for taxes.
If we consider paying for the deficit (not the national debt) of nearly $1,500,000,000,000.00 – one TRILLION, five hundred BILLION dollars - the days worked would rise to 140 days, or 28 weeks, and 54% of your labor.
Americans understand the need for taxes. Reasonable people know services provided by government must be paid for.
The majority of Americans, but not all, have a deeply ingrained sense of fairness. They are willing to do their fair share and resist when they feel their sense of fairness has been violated. We are witnessing such resistance today. Feelings of helplessness and frustration are stirring in this country.
Americans are feeling most of their elected officials are not looking out for them. Congresses approval rating is according to an NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll, 6/12-6/15/09 is at 29%.
If 71% of Americans either disapprove (57%) or are unsure (14%), why have we not changed the politicians there?
What many people do not realize is taxation and the use of force to collect taxes are among the tools politicians use to coerce us into behaviors they favor.
Consider: Government wants us to drive less, or buy the cars they think we should be driving. Solution: Raise gasoline taxes. There is talk gas will go to at least $5.00 per gallon and the $5.00 level will be maintained by taxes, regardless of the actual cost of gasoline.
Consider: Government wants us go into their health insurance plan. Solution: Tax the health benefits you may be getting from an employer. This is being considered as part of health care reform.

Background:
U.S. Senator Jim Demint (R-SC) is travelling across his home state this holiday weekend on a tour bus promoting his new book, Saving Freedom, and visiting Tea Party rallies. He stopped in our Barnes & Noble here in Myrtle Beach for a scheduled book signing Friday night.
Our rally here is on July 11th and his schedule will have him elsewhere. While in town though, our own GeekGirl2u arranged with his folks for him to speak with our Tea Party organizers after the event (she’s spoken with them a few times in the past two weeks).
Our group consists of over two dozen active volunteers, but only a handful of us made it this July 3rd for the book signing. (BTW, we formed a non-profit corporation a few weeks ago so that we can accept donations to fund our activities.) Frankly, we are quite grateful that he took 30 minutes from his very busy schedule to chat with us privately. Before this session, we were impressed with his voting record and his solutions to stop the slide into socialism. Afterward … and we talked about it for nearly two hours … we are convinced that this down-to-earth U.S. Senator is a national leader in the fight to take back our country.
There were a couple of moments when his sense of humor had us laughing. Irv, a 78-year-old Navy veteran, said, “Sir, I have a confession.” The Senator quipped, “Haven’t we had enough of those lately?” Irv then explained that he was a war veteran and has now been called a “right-wing extremist” by the current administration. Mr. Demint shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country.
South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer’s out-of-state consultant Chris LaCivita was caught this weekend trying to orchestrate pressure to force Governor Mark Sanford’s resignation.
Bauer’s move came after the governor admitted he had left South Carolina for five days to pursue an extramarital affair with a woman from Argentina. Sensing an opportunity to take over for Sanford, Bauer and company moved quickly behind the scenes to launch a coup.
The New York Times has published an email from LaCivita to a GOP activist pleading for him to encourage Sanford’s resignation.
“André Bauer is my client; I’ve been working this since Monday,” wrote LaCivita. “I need to get this guy (Sanford) out.”
LaCivita told The Times “this is me professionally seeking information and sources from people I thought I could trust.”
