It seems like a joke, but it’s actually not — or, at any rate, not an intentional one: in his latest propaganda film, Michael Moore is attacking capitalism in the form of a huge and wide-release corporate studio-film, a film for which he’s also serving as the producer. It’s difficult to know if Michael Moore is actually this ignorant, or if he just thinks his viewers are. “Capitalism is evil,” says Michael Moore. And by capitalism he means bourgeois socialism, which is also known as crony capitalism. True capitalism is a social system based upon private ownership of the means of production and the preeminence of the individual over the group. The word capitalism was actually coined by Karl Marx. Marx used it to denigrate private ownership of the means of production and the autonomous workings of the free market. Capitalism is an entire political theory – not, as is sometimes supposed, merely economic. In this regard – and only in this regard – it is akin to communism. The exclusively economic component of capitalism may be described as the right to life, liberty, and property applied to commerce and industry.

Dr. Yuri N. Maltsev is an economist who teaches at Carthage College, Kenosha, Wisconsin. Prior to that, for many years, he was an economist for Mikhail Gorbachev’s economic reform team. In 1989, he defected to the United States of America. Dr. Maltsev is now among the most articulate living defenders of laissez-faire capitalism. Just recently, Dr. Maltsev wrote a searing essay on socialized medicine, Soviet style. He lived it firsthand for a number of years. His essay is en eye-popping read that’s liable to make you sick to your stomach. Here is an excerpt:

On July 1st, 2009, in an ABC infomercial, Barack Obama said that “46 million Americans are uninsured.” In fact, the Census Bureau puts the number of uninsured at 45,657,000 people, but nearly 9.7 million of those 45.7 million are, as the census bureau says, “not citizens.”

![]() Background: Our rally here is on July 11th and his schedule will have him elsewhere. While in town though, our own GeekGirl2u arranged with his folks for him to speak with our Tea Party organizers after the event (she’s spoken with them a few times in the past two weeks). Our group consists of over two dozen active volunteers, but only a handful of us made it this July 3rd for the book signing. (BTW, we formed a non-profit corporation a few weeks ago so that we can accept donations to fund our activities.) Frankly, we are quite grateful that he took 30 minutes from his very busy schedule to chat with us privately. Before this session, we were impressed with his voting record and his solutions to stop the slide into socialism. Afterward … and we talked about it for nearly two hours … we are convinced that this down-to-earth U.S. Senator is a national leader in the fight to take back our country. There were a couple of moments when his sense of humor had us laughing. Irv, a 78-year-old Navy veteran, said, “Sir, I have a confession.” The Senator quipped, “Haven’t we had enough of those lately?” Irv then explained that he was a war veteran and has now been called a “right-wing extremist” by the current administration. Mr. Demint shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country.

America Is Under Attack: We ARE the defenders of the republic. We are the steadfast holdouts for freedom. We are the intractable believers in self-reliance. We are the unyielding supporters of capitalism. We are the obstinate zealots for the rule of law upon which this great nation was founded. Make no mistake about it; we are under attack. They rapid-fire unrelenting salvos so steadily that some have inured ourselves to the ongoing injuries and ceaseless destruction. We are under attack by equally adamant forces who strive to ‘change’ our country into a new form a government and a new type of economy. They have taken control of our banks. They have taken control of our insurance industry. They have taken control of our automotive industry.

The Young Cons, a christian rap group, is not attempting to force their religious beliefs onto anyone, but rather encourage discussion among the American youth. They do not claim to have all the right answers, but merely try to express their views through music. Their goal is not to pursue a rap career, but rather get young Americans involved in politics. This video is from the TheYoungCons YouTube channel.

We all know about the radical muslim militants around the globe. We know that they routinely wage war against one neighbor after another. We know that they consider our country to be the great satan and Israel to be the little satan. Some also contend that Russia and China are seeking our destruction. Perhaps, on some level they are. But we have far greater and more devastating enemies within our own borders. Each day they plot and plan and practice to destroy our once great nation … yes … from within. Some attacks are quietly subtle; others are boldly blatant. Either strategy though, their insidious salvos of change are fired upon we, the people, with such unrestrained vigor that it’s hard to grasp their sheer magnitude and their unrelenting speed. Many of us fully recognize the threat that is upon us. We’re starting to spread the word; we’re beginning to stand our ground. We are uniting against the ever-obvious plot to destroy the land of the free and the home of the brave. We know … without one iota of doubt … we see it all around us … we feel it in our bones … the showdown draws near. Alas my friends, for each of us there are 50 others who also recognize the imminent danger, but instead of taking action they sit at home watching TV, playing video games, or surfing the Web. They complain, but they are waiting, perhaps, for someone else to take action. They see it. They hear it. They know it. They can smell it in the air. But, for whatever reason they are not quite ready to take action yet. But in this battle … the battle against freedom that is waged upon us, we MUST all recognize that silence IS consent. We, who have begun to heed the call to duty, MUST inspire the hesitant warriors and the steadfast couch potatoes that NOW is the time to get involved … NOW is the time to take action … NOW is the time to put aside petty differences … NOW is the time for the vast millions of us to speak with ONE voice. Call your friends … tell your co-workers … knock on doors in your neighborhood … invite them to join you in a patriot rally … invite them to join your local Tea Party protest. We MUST speak now, while we can still hold onto the lingering traces of this freedom.

American Capitalism Gone With A Whimper (from Pravda.ru) … It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people. True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists. Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

The following is Vladamir Nabokov’s memorable account of the process by which graphite is converted into pencil lead. From Chapter 3 of his excellent novel Transparent Things: “We see graphite, ground very fine, being mixed with moist clay by young girls and old men. This mass, this pressed caviar, is placed in a metal cylinder which has a blue eye, a saphire with a hole drilled in it, and through this the caviar is forced. It issues in on continuous appetizing rodlet (watch for our little friend!), which looks as if it retained the shape of an earthworm’s digestive tract. It is now being cut into lengths required for these particular pencils. See it baked, see it boiled in fat and fitted into wood.” What, though, from a political-economic standpoint, is the significance of pencils and pencil lead? Well (not to put too fine a point on it), in December of 1958, a man named Leonard Read wrote a remarkable essay entitled “I, Pencil: My Family Tree as told to Leonard E. Read.” In this essay, Mr. Read walks us step-by-step through the entire process of how a single pencil is produced. I recapitulate it here, as I have recapitulated it in Chapter 8 of my book, because I believe it is the only argument you’ll ever need in support of the absolute economic superiority of laissez-faire capitalism.

You may well recall the frequently reported campaign promise by Barack Obama that “under his presidency no one with an income under $250,000 would see a tax increase”. His resolute promise to the American people may soon be tested. There is a growing buzz in our nation’s capital to implement a Value Added Tax (VAT) of as much as 25% on all goods purchased and services rendered. Created in 1954 by French economist Maurice Lauré, then director of the French tax authority, a VAT is actually an indirect tax. This Value Added Tax is one of the most efficient systems for taking revenue from citizens ever contrived. It is used in 130 countries around the globe, mostly in socialist countries … so that average citizens bare the burden of enormous government expansion and ever-increasing government handouts. The VAT is essentially a sales tax, except that it’s charged at each stage in the development of a product instead of at the moment when the product is sold.

Fiat money is in large part the type of money we have in America today. The term “fiat money” refers to money that has no actual value backing it but exists as valuable currency only by governmental decree and agreement. As a misguided someone recently said: “We now make money the old fashioned way. We print it.” And someone else: “Fiat money is an oxymoron. Traditionally, money has been both a storehouse of value and a medium of exchange. Fiat money exists by mimicking both; but when its ability to do so ends, fiat money exposed for what it is, reverts to what it is - government issued coupons with expiration dates printed in invisible ink” (Darryl Schoon, June 23, 2008). Money proper evolved out of barter. Money is nothing more than a medium of exchange. Indeed, the distinguishing characteristic of money is that it is specifically sought for purposes of re-exchanging. The root of real money, however, is production. The root of production is property. And property, as we have seen, is the root of economics.

![]() Egalitarianism is a fashionable term that in essence means equalization. It is also the main banner under which socialism, including socialism’s little sister environmentalism, flies today. As a political philosophy, egalitarianism tells us that the legitimate functions of government do extend to such acts as keeping people relatively equal (a task that requires a massive act of governmental compulsion) despite the fact that humans possess varying degrees of ability, skills, intelligence, and, most important of all, ambition. The late Kurt Vonnegut Jr. persuasively illustrates the sheer folly (and criminality) of egalitarianism in his fine short story Harrison Bergeron, which I recommend (you can read it entirely online via that link; it’s very short).

Social Security tacks on to that figure an additional $15 trillion in unfunded liability. To put those outlandish numbers into slightly better perspective, the entire United States economy “only” produces $14 trillion a year. The Medicare Board of Trustees Report goes on to estimate the following:

In Canada, before one can receive proper medical care, one must first be referred to a specialist, and the waiting list for something like a gynecological surgery is “4 to 12 weeks, cataract removal 12 to 18 weeks, tonsillectomy three to 36 weeks and neurosurgery five to 30 weeks. Also, Toronto-area hospitals, concerned about lawsuits, ask patients to sign a legal release accepting that while delays in treatment may jeopardize their health, they nevertheless hold the hospital blameless” (Ibid).
