Today is the 11th day of the 11th month and time, once again, to celebrate Veterans Day. This year men and women of our armed services are in the deserts of Iraq, the mountains of Afghanistan, and stationed elsewhere around the world.
For many in our country, this holiday will go virtually unnoticed. For some, it simply means the closing of some government offices. But for others, it will be a solemn occasion to recognize and remember the sacrifices that they or their loved ones have made in support of our great country.
Today, let’s remember those who have bravely fallen in the march for freedom. Let’s thank those who are with us and those who are overseas … for their patriotic service … thank you.

As reported by WorldNetDaily, the official website of President-Elect Barack Obama, Change.gov, originally announced that Obama would “require” all middle school through college students to participate in community service programs; but after a flurry of blogs protested children being drafted into Obama’s proposed youth corps, the website’s wording was softened.
Originally, under the tab “America Serves” Change.gov read:
“Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.”
The word “require” was stricken from the website Friday (2008-11-07) and replaced with the phrase “setting a goal”. Now, it also lists tax credits toward college tuition.

Gun enthusiasts nationwide are stocking up on firearms out of worries that President-elect Obama and a Democrat-majority Congress will create tough, new gun laws. Investment professor Joy Brighton breaks the silence about more greed on Wall Street that may create another financial crisis. This eye-opening documentary reveals that the appeal for profit from Shariah Islamic Finance belies the fact that it exists because of Shariah Law.
Moreover, the Treasury Department announced Wednesday (2008-11-05) that it will teach “Islamic finance” to U.S. banking regulatory agencies, Congress, and other parts of the executive branch. That’s right; Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and his successors gained tremendous new powers as a part of September’s bailout plan. He is now the overseer of the US financial system. And, one of Paulson’s first duties was to (by stealth) begin implementation of Shariah Islamic Finance (a precursor to Shariah Law) in the good ole USA. (read this entire post…)

As President-elect Barack Obama prepares to take office in January, he is confronted with many challenges. Few presidents have ever stepped into the oval office in such difficult times. Issues looming ahead include health care, Medicare financing, energy concerns, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, terrorism threats, unprotected borders, 30 million undocumented immigrants, and the numerous warning signs that our economy is in recession.
As crises abound, the president-elect must fill key posts with a top-notch team. And, he must put the right people in the right place expeditiously. Obama’s first personnel decision (2008-11-06) was to name U.S. Representative Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff, a key position for the success of a new administration. He has a reputation of doing whatever it takes to achieve well-defined goals. (read this entire post…)

According to Rasmussen Reports, ninety-one percent (91%) of Republicans have a favorable view of Sarah Palin, including 65% who say their view is Very Favorable. Only eight percent (8%) have an unfavorable view of her, including three percent (3%) Very Unfavorable.
Seventy-one percent (71%) said McCain made the right choice by picking Palin as his running mate, while only 65% said the party picked the right nominee for president. When asked to choose among some of the GOP’s top names for their choice for the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, 64% say Palin.
The next closest contenders are two former governors and unsuccessful challengers for the presidential nomination this year — Mike Huckabee of Arkansas with 12% support and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 11%. Three other sitting governors – Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Charlie Crist of Florida and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota – all pull low single-digit support.

Blog hoppers, news hounds, disenchanted conservatives, and other venerable ilk … lend me an ear. For today, this enlightening day, we’ll delve into an adventure of discovery elucidating the poignant consequences of the runaway collapse of morality in western culture. Yes; that ineffable vice of which I dare to speak is none other than pernicious procrastination … and its far-reaching detriment to our center-right nation.
Now before you relegate my pungent distress to the scatological realm of male bovine excrement, allow me to assert two rebuttals at this juncture. First, I am not afflicted with Bidenesque rhetorical flourishes. Second, and more importantly, powered with an online thesaurus I can hurl salvos of adjectives at you faster than a ravenous cheetah. The mandate for Barack Obama’s promise of change has prevailed. Appearing before tens of thousands of supporters in Chicago, President-elect Barack Obama discussed his historical campaign and victory … and called for unity.
Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, PUMAs … we do need to come together … we are Americans first. Let us HOPE and PRAY that President Obama will lead our great nation with honor and respect. Only with unity can we, as a nation, effectively work through our collective problems which make up the enormous task in front of us.

“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”
“The road ahead will be long, our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people, will get there.”

Police stopped “Joe the Plumber” for speeding last week, but didn’t issue a ticket out of concern it would reflect negatively on the Toledo department, an officer’s report said. Officers tracked Samuel J. Wurzelbacher driving about 50 mph in a 35 mph zone in his Dodge Durango SUV on Wednesday (2008-10-29), the police report said.
In the final presidential debate, Republican John McCain portrayed Wurzelbacher as emblematic of people with concerns about Democrat Barack Obama’s tax plans. Wurzelbacher has since endorsed McCain. His instant fame set off a rush of interest in the plumber’s background. Toledo’s police chief said on Tuesday — the day before the traffic stop — that a department clerk faces a disciplinary hearing for allegedly looking up Wurzelbacher’s address on a state computer database.
Wurzelbacher was given a verbal warning because of that ongoing investigation and because a citation could have “negative repercussions to the department and city as a whole,” according to the report, which lists “Patrolman Bailey” as its author.

According to the Associated Press, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is willing to talk with Barack Obama if the Democratic candidate wins Tuesday’s election.
Chavez says that relations between Venezuela and the U.S, now at their lowest point in years, could improve in an Obama presidency. During a televised speech on Sunday, Chavez said he would meet with Obama only ‘‘on equal and respectful terms.’’
Chavez ordered the U.S. ambassador out of Venezuela on September 12, accusing the envoy of involvement in a purported assassination plot. U.S. officials deny it.
He also recalled his ambassador from Washington and suggested that relations would not be fully restored until President George W. Bush leaves the White House.
‘‘Hopefully with Obama, we will enter a new phase,’’ Chavez said.

If a speechwriter for John McCain had switched sides and announced she was going to vote for Barack Obama, the mainstream media (MSM) would give the story top billing for two or three days. Now, in reality, an Obama speechwriter DID leave his campaign promising to vote for McCain last Friday (2008-10-28) … and … not even a gentle whisper from the ludicrously Obama-biased MSM.
Wendy Button has also written speeches for Democratic Senators John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry, and for Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. Plus, she is a writer for The Huffington Post.

Two days before the election, there are numerous issues that we need to consider about what a President Obama would ‘change’ in America. One promise he’s issued is that he will implement a Civilian National Security Force … just as strong and powerful as our military. He said this in a stump speech in Colorado Springs, CO on July 2, 2008.
So, according to Barack Hussein Obama our Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and our local and state law enforcement agencies will not suffice to secure our great nation. Hmmmm … Obama wants his own private army patrolling inside our borders. (read this entire post…)
