The first wave of tea parties started on February 16 in Seattle, WA. Word spread quickly with protests in Denver and Mesa, AZ spontaneously organized for the next day. Then on CNBC (February 19), Rick Santelli called for a “Chicago Tea Party” on July Fourth.
Many folks, however, didn’t want to wait that long to express their utter frustration with trillion dollar budgets, 10 trillion dollar deficits, ever-expanding government, and the inevitable, massive tax increases to pay for it all. A few dozen more rallies were held in March.
Then … without any involvement from any political party or any central authority, Tea Parties began to organize for Tax Day (April 15) through word-of-mouth and Internet communication. More than 800 patriotic rallies were held across the nation with approximately 1.2 million attendees.
Today, according to TeaPartyDay’s registration service 845 rallies are currently scheduled for Santelli’s call to action, July 4th. Once again, these locations are spread across our great nation as the map below reveals.

Most of us just don’t have the time to give even a cursory perusal to the abundance of conservative commentary and news, so we help you with the quest. Each Sunday we highlight issues and headlines from the week, commented by established political pundits.
These include articulate and compelling commentary from Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly, Devvy Kidd, Dick Morris, Michelle Malkin, and Thomas Sowell. We include others from time to time, but these six are rather prolific. These are their opinions on today’s hot topics; what’s yours?

Chief Seattle Chief Seattle (born in 1786) was a 19th century leader of Puget Sound Indian tribes. He was by all accounts a breathtakingly levelheaded man, an eloquent man, a man whose real name, in his native tongue of Lushootseed, was See-ahth, which the White Man found impossible to pronounce.
Environmentalists of all persuasions have buffaloed a number of people into believing that Chief Seattle said the following in one of his many speeches:
“The earth is our mother. What befalls the earth befalls all the sons and daughters of the earth….”
The above words have been cited by Supreme Court Justice William Douglas, in his mind-numbing autobiography; they have been broadcast over the airwaves of at least six foreign countries; and, according to a 1993 Reader’s Digest report, “Chief Seattle’s words [are read as] a matter of curriculum” in elementary public schools all across our once-great nation.

Participate in our own poll below.
On Friday, May 15, 2009, Gallup reported that 51 percent of respondents in the Gallup Poll described themselves as “pro-life.” This is the first time since it began asking the question in 1995 that Gallup has found a pro-life majority. While 42 percent of respondents this year described themselves as “pro-choice,” the numbers are almost flip-flopped from last year, when “50% of respondents called themselves ‘pro-choice’ and 44% identified themselves as ‘pro-life.’”
Looking more closely at the Gallup Poll reveals other interesting numbers. Sixty percent of respondents say that abortion should be “illegal under all circumstances” or “legal only in a few circumstances,” up from 57 percent the year before. While Democratic attitudes on abortion remain essentially unchanged (61 percent pro-choice this year versus 60 percent last year), 70 percent of Republicans identified themselves as pro-life, up from 60 percent last year.

Some time ago it became apparent that our LukeAmerica2020 blog at the free WordPress site was limited in many capabilities and features. So … four weeks ago we embarked on the very tedious task of relocating it to an independent server. The first lesson was that the built-in WP software to accomplish this was sorely lacking in the ability to effectively do so under our circumstances. But, it was certainly helpful.
Upon completion, the next mission was to add lots of things we couldn’t do on the free WP server. I installed several cool plug-ins, rewrote some basic ones, created my own, tweaked several functions, and completely recoded several aspects of the software. One day, when time permits, I’ll offer this code to the WP community. Our blog is now vastly more streamlined and carefully organized for your convenience.

These Tax Day Tea Parties are part of a nationwide initiative to protest Big Government Spending. The rallies began with bloggers in Seattle, WA, who organized a demonstration on February 16. Word spread quickly with protests in Denver and Mesa, AZ spontaneously organized for the next day.

Several more protests took place in March. More than 4,000 each attended the Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Orlando Tea Parties.
Despite this growing grassroots message to our federal government, the MSM refused to cover the scores of events. Then, without any involvement from any political party or any central authority, Tea Parties began to organize for Tax Day through word-of-mouth and Internet communication.

The second wave of Tea Party Protests is rapidly approaching. Currently, more than 2000 Tax Day Tea Parties are scheduled for April 15th, in cities large and small, coast to coast. These patriotic gatherings will range in size from a few dozen to as many as 10,000 in larger cities.
While many of us are beginning to plan the day and make our signs, a lot of folks are looking for ideas for their slogan. We’ve explored every nook and cranny of the world wide web culling through endless photos of signs from the numerous protests in March to bring you some of the very best slogan ideas.

As an unsettling discontent is swelling across our great nation, I’m reminded of the closing words of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, “a government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
His resolute celebration of liberty has come to symbolize the very definition of democracy itself. Yet, who among us today could muster the fatuous optimism to rally truthfully that this founding creed is practiced by our elected representatives in DC?
Shouldn’t government authority be derived from the consent of the governed? Shouldn’t our elected representatives … represent us? Some issues that confront us as a nation transcend political parties. (read this entire post…)

Do you wonder which direction our country is headed with all of these bailouts, handouts, and loans to big businesses from our representatives in DC?
Isn’t it time that government authority be derived from the consent of the governed … from we, the people?
Are you aware of the hundreds of Tea Party protests taking place around the nation and the ones planned for April 15? Are you aware of Glenn Beck’s ‘We Surround Them’ movement? Every day, more and more concerned Americans join these constructive activities.
We are so inspired by these patriotic Americans and so disappointed with the ongoing disregard for its citizens that our federal government is displaying that we started a monthly newsletter.
Common Sense 2020 is an entertaining expression of what Thomas Paine, the Father of the American Revolution, might discuss if he were around today. He might even call many of these folks in DC today ‘non-representing representatives’.
The articles inside our premier issue include:
+ We, The People, Take Our Nation Back
+ Who Wants Gun Control?
+ Who Was Thomas Paine?
+ New Tax Exemption?
+ What is an American?

President George W. Bush unexpectedly flew to Iraq Sunday (2008-12-14), his fourth visit, to pay a farewell visit and discuss a recently signed security agreement. Hours later, during a news conference in Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s office in Baghdad, a reporter of Baghdadiya television threw two shoes, one by one, at Bush (video below).
The man who threw the shoes shouted an Arabic phrase, which reportedly translated as, “This is a farewell kiss, dog.” In the Arab world, one of the strongest insults is sticking the sole of your dirty shoe in somebody’s face.

According to two private, nonpartisan organizations, some of the major corporations that received enormous sums in bailout funds and loans had just donated large amounts of money to the Democratic and Republican conventions weeks before coming to Washington to beg for their taxpayer-funded handouts.
These include American International Group (AIG), Citigroup, Ford Motor Company, Freddie Mac, General Motors Corporation, and Goldman Sachs. In all, big businesses, labor unions, and individual millionaires donated $118 million into the nominating conventions for Barack Obama and John McCain. The Democratic convention in Denver received $61 million and the Republican one in Minneapolis-St. Paul got $57 million.

A Brief Overview of YouTube …
The domain name “YouTube.com” was activated on February 15, 2005; the company was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. The angel-funded enterprise offered their first public preview of the site in May 2005. They made their official debut that November. Bandwidth costs and potential advertising profits inspired a venture capitalist, Sequoia Capital, to get involved.
Within six months, YouTube was one of the fastest growing sites on the Web and was ranked the 5th most popular website on Alexa. More than 100 million video clips were viewed daily on YouTube, with an additional 65,000 new videos uploaded every 24 hours.

Some same-sex marriage supporters are urging people to “call in gay” today (2008-12-10) to show how much the country relies on gays and lesbians. Organizers of “Day Without a Gay” are also encouraging people to perform volunteer work and refrain from spending money. Designed to show the size and impact of the gay and lesbian community, the grass-roots effort comes just weeks after California’s Proposition 8 initiative.
The ballot proposition defended the definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman and consequently eliminated the possibility of same-sex couples marrying in the state. The voters in favor of ending same-sex marriage won with 52.3%.
But many in California’s homosexual community did not accept the loss. The more militant losers marched in the streets, accosted by-standers, criticized christians and blacks (who predominantly voted in favor of the proposition), ransacked churches, and launched intensive media campaigns claiming those who opposed them were involved in a conspiracy of hate-speech. Now, they’ve developed a more creative means to sway public opinion and the next election.

We reported 30 days ago that gun sales were soaring across the nation. Firearms and ammunition sales continue to boom. A simple Google News search for “gun sales are up” or “gun sales soaring” reveals numerous recent stories concerning this race beat the inauguration. While many retailers are struggling to break even this holiday season, business has been booming for gun dealers and warehouse distributors nationwide (up 42%).
This pre-emptive initiative to “bear arms while we can” is concerned that with President-elect Barack Obama in the White House and a Democrat-majority Congress tough, new gun laws are just around the corner. It may mean fewer opportunities to buy guns. Although an outright firearms ban seems unlikely, gun owners are worried about higher taxes on gun transactions and greater fees for Firearm Ownership Identification Card applications.
Gun-rights advocates should also recognize that if the Dems do curtail, stifle, or eliminate guns sales, there is another point to consider. They will also stop usage of existing guns by cutting off ammo sales. If you are concerned, stock up on ammo NOW.

On Al-Nas TV (Egypt) on November 27, Cleric Hassan Abu Al-Ashbal demanded that Barack Hussein Obama convert to Islam (video below). He declared that Obama is “like the Byzantine leaders in the days of Prophet Muhammad.” He continued, “If you want glory; you will find it in Islam. If you want honor; you will find it in Islam … especially since you have some kind of roots in Islam.”
He concluded with this blatant threat to the President-elect,
“If you refuse to return to your Islamic origins, to the way Allah created you, to withdraw your huge armies and military bases from the lands of the Muslims … it constitutes an evil omen for you.
Know, Obama, that America, with all its size and might, will know no peace, as long as a single Muslim child lacks food, drink, medicine, or housing. If you refuse, Obama, and insist on remaining in Muslim lands, know that Allah still plants in Muslims obedience to Him and they are willing to wait for Paradise which is closer than their own shoelaces.
Know, Obama, that in the lands of Islam, there are people who seek death, and are eager for it, even more than you and your people are eager for life.”

Of the more than one dozen court cases challenging Barack Obama’s citizenship and eligibility to become President, three cases are at the forefront of the grassroots movement by concerned Americans. This is not a partisan or a racial issue; it is about the constitutional qualifications to be eligible for the Presidency. Moreover, three aspects of this ongoing ordeal are most astonishing.
First is that most of the lower court cases have been dismissed due to the plaintiff’s lack of standing, ie, ordinary citizens have no right to question a Presidential candidate’s eligibility. Second is that Obama and the DNC have spent almost one million dollars in legal fees to prevent the candidate from having to reveal his original birth certificate. Third is the fact that Obama likewise refuses to release numerous relevant documents and records that should be innocuous (Occidental College records, Columbia College records, Columbia Thesis paper, Harvard College records, Law Practice client list, Law Practice billing records, etc.)
