It was an enjoyable honor to attend the 912 March on DC. The 8-hour bus trip with fellow patriots concerned about big government growth added to the pleasure of participating in the largest political rally in our great nation’s history. In DC, attendees were not only friendly and respectful; but, we also left our nation’s capital free of litter. (video and photo gallery below)
Moreover, most media outlets have downplayed the huge attendance to the 912 March on DC. Was it 10,000? Was it 75,000? 1.2 million? 1.7 million? 2 million? For President Obama and his “mainstream media”, it must be like arguing over exactly how many drops of water are in the tidal wave that is bearing down on you!
Indeed, each of us who proudly joined the 2-million-man-march have 50 to 100 friends and family with similar convictions who were unable to attend. We fully recognize that when government makes our choices for us or limits them, tyranny prevails. When we can make our own choices, liberty prevails. We stand not for the vagaries of partisan politics; but, rather we unite together across party lines for protection of our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Background:
U.S. Senator Jim Demint (R-SC) is travelling across his home state this holiday weekend on a tour bus promoting his new book, Saving Freedom, and visiting Tea Party rallies. He stopped in our Barnes & Noble here in Myrtle Beach for a scheduled book signing Friday night.
Our rally here is on July 11th and his schedule will have him elsewhere. While in town though, our own GeekGirl2u arranged with his folks for him to speak with our Tea Party organizers after the event (she’s spoken with them a few times in the past two weeks).
Our group consists of over two dozen active volunteers, but only a handful of us made it this July 3rd for the book signing. (BTW, we formed a non-profit corporation a few weeks ago so that we can accept donations to fund our activities.) Frankly, we are quite grateful that he took 30 minutes from his very busy schedule to chat with us privately. Before this session, we were impressed with his voting record and his solutions to stop the slide into socialism. Afterward … and we talked about it for nearly two hours … we are convinced that this down-to-earth U.S. Senator is a national leader in the fight to take back our country.
There were a couple of moments when his sense of humor had us laughing. Irv, a 78-year-old Navy veteran, said, “Sir, I have a confession.” The Senator quipped, “Haven’t we had enough of those lately?” Irv then explained that he was a war veteran and has now been called a “right-wing extremist” by the current administration. Mr. Demint shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country.

Recently, as the web developer and document designer for our Tea Party in Myrtle Beach, I was asked to put together the content for a poster for our upcoming rally that would describe who we are, organizers and attendees. Here’s what we approved.
We are everyday Americans who are concerned about the direction that our country has been headed for the last few years. We are tired of politicians who don’t read the bills they sign, tired of big government growth, and tired of reckless government spending. We stand united against the inevitable taxes to pay for it all … because we do not want our children and our grandchildren to pay the bills for what our ‘non-representing representatives’ are doing today.
We are moms and dads. We are grandparents and grandchildren. We are students, office workers, laborers, and the unemployed. We are black, white, and brown. We are rich and poor. We are old and young. We span the realm of demographics. We are Americans. And, we love this country.

The following poem was written two days ago by a dear friend and a member of our local tea party group here in Myrtle Beach, SC. She’s a mom and a hard working volunteer. And … unless others speak of what all she does, no one ever knows. They just know it was done. She doesn’t brag or boast; she just does the work.
At our tax day rally, she worked 10 hours with us and then went to help with a Fair Tax protest for another two hours. In between, when our event concluded she and one other volunteer (both surely exhausted like the rest of us) traversed the entire park grounds picking up the bits of litter left behind. No one asked her to do this; she just knew the right thing to do and did it.
So … when you read her poem, know, as we do, that the words pour forth from deep within her heart … filled with the love she has for this country, its people, and its freedoms. Thank you Jean.

For six consecutive nights, starting Monday June 1st, Glenn Beck’s Common Sense Comedy Tour will be live in Denver (sold out), Phoenix, San Diego, Kansas City, Houston, and Richmond. The great news for those of us who don’t live in or near one of these cities is that the June 4th (Thursday) event (in Kansas City) will be simulcast live to more than 450 movie theaters nationwide.
Click here to view the alphabetical list (by state) of participating theaters. Here in Myrtle Beach we can catch his 2-hour political comedy event at the Cinemark 14 theater in the Coastal Grand Mall (8 pm).
