More Reasons to Get Involved

For far too long, citizens have declined to be involved in politics, except to occasionally go vote IF it isn’t too hot, too cold, raining, or we have the time to spare and don’t have to wait in line too long.

Meanwhile the ‘global warming’ alarmists have been hard at work behind the scenes. They have multiple agencies.

The Corporate Social Responsible movement has been intimidating businesses … making environmental, social, and human rights demands. They oppose conventional oil, shale oil, refineries, tar sands, natural gas, and nuclear power plants. They also have campaigned against turbine electricity, producing wind farms, and they have filed suits to ‘protect’ deserts that were proposed sites for solar energy.

They say they are for bio-fuels like ethanol, but they admit that almost all bio-fuels used today cause more ‘greenhouse gas emissions’ than conventional fuels. Truth of the matter, they don’t really want to increase our energy supply, their goal is impeding economic growth, redistribution of wealth, and zero population growth. The primary objective is expanding government control of the population.

They have created the perception of scarcity of coal, oil, and gas which translates into higher costs. The renewable energy sources depend on the taxpayer subsidies. The corn ethanol caused food shortages when it was diverted from food to mandated fuel production. Congress says 36 billion gallons of ethanol must be blended into our gasoline by 2022. Of course, though, corn growers are subsidized and food costs shot up.

More land is needed to grow all of that corn, but the government already pays farmers 1.8 billion dollars a year NOT TO GROW CROPS. Worse yet, it takes 1 gallon of gas to make 1 gallon of ‘corn gas’.

Nine new ethanal plants are planned to start soon but the ‘greens’ are upset because the processing plants use too much water, electric power, and in some plants coal. The ‘greens’ are convinced we will soon run out of water — the most abundant substance on earth. They try to limit the use of water supplies and they support recycling water.

We have an abundance of coal, but ‘greens’ fight against converting it into liquid fuel. We have plenty of gas, but government mandates drive ’supply and demand’. You would think the ‘greens’ would support nuclear power because it is clean and safe and it won’t deplete our natural resources. But in spite of the safety record of nuclear plants, none have been built in America in 30 years. The ‘greens’ have made it too expensive and litigious.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 provided incentives and 21 companies applied to the Nuclear Regulatory commission to build 42 plants. The ‘greens’ erected obstacles .legal and regulatory obstacles that drive up cost. Cap and Trade wants to place businesses under a carbon pricing regime. The E.U.’s carbon pricing system has already hurt it’ economy.

Cap and Trade gives the European Union countries a competitive advantage over U.S. energy costs. Green policies hamper production, places huge tax burdens on citizens and companies, and causes costly regulation. These policies also undermine our military.

Reducing carbon emissions means we must replace coal, oil, and natural gas with bio-fuels, solar power, and wind power — all more expensive — all job killers. Congress refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol in 1998 after the Clinton administration signed it because the Department of Energy estimated that the U.S. economy would decline by about $400 billion. A study by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in 2000 stated that Cap and Trade is a regressive economic policy. The Environmental Protection Agency stated in 2008 that Cap and Trade would shrink the GDP by almost $3 trillion by 2050.

Alcoa, DuPont, Dow Chemical, and others are expecting free carbon emitting permits that they can sell to other companies. G.E. expects regulation to provide it with tax credits and subsidies to help them sell energy-efficient products. The CEO of G.E., Jeffrey R. Immelt, will produce 500 TV reports for ‘Healthy Imagination” in 100 products and stands to make another fortune. He wants to sell windmills and he wants the national health care so he will not have to pay health care for his employees. Tom Dashelle is on the board.

Many companies are are compelled to give into the Corporate Social Responsible (CSR) which lobbies Congress for ‘global warming’ regulations. CSR has ‘pressure groups’ such as World Resources Institute, Amnesty International, and PETA. These groups have more say in the way the companies operate than the shareholders. Corporations issue reports to these groups to prove they are being environmentally and socially friendly. 70% of the 100 largest Fortune 500 companies engage in this reporting.

These groups comprise the ‘green movement’ and they are numerous. All of them work toward increased government control of your life. WE must all work too, tea parties, emails, blogs, and marches. WE must be as vigilant as they are because Obama keeps pushing new programs and Nancy Pelosi shoves them through without giving our Representatives time to read the bills.

Everything is a crisis, everything needs to be passed yesterday! Hillary Clinton made the rounds begging other countries to accept our debt. Now, Timothy Geithner is doing the same.

These recent bills will cost trillions — for start up costs. Our treasury is empty! We do not know what else Obama has up his sleeve. We do know he wants amnesty for illegals, he wants to take our guns, and he wants to close down conservative talk radio. He wants to raise taxes on everything. Is this the ‘change’ the country wanted?

If you ever intend to stand up and fight for this country … the time is NOW. Otherwise, you may end up as slaves of the state.
