Over the past week or so while the entire country obsessed over the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, attention was “somehow” diverted from our country’s two queens. The Queen of Socialism, Nancy Pelosi, pushed through the U.S. House the largest tax increase in the history of our country, Cap & Trade. And, an annual White House report revealed (for investigative reporters) that Queen Michelle Obama’s staff of 22 earns a total of $1,600,700.00 per year. (see chart below)
Mary Todd Lincoln was ridiculed for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. Mamie Eisenhower had to pay the salary for her personal secretary … herself. And, Laura Bush was criticized for her staff earning $561,325 in annual salaries. But Queen Michelle has set a new staff salary precedent for the First Lady … who performs absolutely no official duties … during the most severe economic turmoil of our lifetimes.
Back on February 18, 2008, while addressing a Milwaukee audience, Michelle Obama said, “For the first time in my adult lifetime I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.” This new revelation is surely change we can believe in. While our First Lady enjoys the pampering of a queen, unemployment across our great nation continues to skyrocket.
Remember her speech at the Democratic National Convention when she stated “In my own life, in my own small way, I’ve tried to give back to this country that has given me so much.” Thank you so much Michelle for giving back to our financially troubled nation.

Now Now Luke, Let’s not be so hard on the “Queen.” After all, she does have the hard job of keeping up with the Kennedy’s and making sure all the fashion magazines present her as a First Lady of Style. (Hollywood style that is). It was Rahm Emanuel who said “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”
2 Words “DON’T HATE ” !! Keeping up with the white house appearances is her job. You have to spend money to make it ! If she did nothing people would say she is boring, the fact we are discussing her now is worth the money !
JB: Clearly, you must live in an area in which the economy is booming. That’s great for your area.
But, the rest of the country is economic turmoil … and such wild extravagances are appalling to many folks.
I think you could take that staff list and cut it in half. Everyone else has had to cut back.

Your figures are very misleading. First, you have included staff that are not exclusively assigned to the first lady. More importantly, in comparing Ms. Obama to Laura Bush, you are using the 2004 figures for the Bush White House, and including less staff. However, if you check the salary records for the Bush White House in 2008 - just a year ago - for the same positions, you’ll find the positions and salaries are very similar. That’s right - it was the Bush administration who more than doubled the salaries for Mrs. Bush’s staff in just one term, while the Obamas have since added only a very modest increase.
Ahhhh Michael. Your comments sound interesting. But, alas, “facts are stubborn things”. You’ve apparently digested some misinformation along the way.
First, indeed L.B.’s staff was a little higher in 2008 than the much popularized and highly denigrated 2004 tally of $561,325. In 2008, L.B.’s staff totaled $730,400.
Just because a position does not include “First Lady” in the job title does not exclude this person from being an attendant whose primary work involves the first Lady. The highest paid in the list above is Susan Sher who is, in fact, Queen Michelle’s Chief of Staff.
Moreover, Ms. Sher was hand-picked by the Queen in June to replace the former CoS. Ms. Sher is a friend of the Queen’s from Chicago.

Larry: You make a great point. However, the far left considers it fair play to take our hard-earned tax dollars to fund the Queen’s record-breaking staff salaries. They could care less that her staff makes more than the last two first lady’s staffs … combined. After all, she’s a Queen.
In the interest of honest discourse, why don’t you publish a side by side comparison of both Laura Bush’s 2008 staff (including all of the above positions) and Michelle O’bama’s current staff salaries. I might be a liberal, but I am always interested in the truth..the whole truth, not just one side of it.

I think we should elect only non married people to the Presidency. This way we don’t have to pay out all those greenbacks for a very unnecessary position.
