Careful, sir: I may take you up on that.

Thanks for the excellent comment. Chess club and the debate team, eh?

That explains it.

The more structured microcosms of various fields of study in my waning years of formal education were enhanced by the extracurricular activities of student government, academic societies, and the chess club. But, perhaps my most enduring lesson was participation in the debate team.

Frequently, we were ordered (eh ... asked) to take the viewpoint that was in diametric opposition to own. On a variety of political issues i learned that in order to defend lunatic leftist stances, the only adequate course of action was to wholly dismiss logic, reason, and verifiable facts. Instead, a vigorously light-hearted strategy of relying on non sequiturs, disjunctive rationality, and articulate verbosity as a semblance of support for the issue often won points for the perspective from observers (however, it did not earn high academic ratings).

Although my reply above was a somewhat feeble attempt at humor, i hope it illustrated to some extent the pomposity of how left extremists eagerly embrace ridiculous absurdities through pure emotional attachment ... unabashedly suffering from logorrhoea. Moreover, egalitarianism is, i do believe, a key foundational layer of the reeking heap of male bovine scatology otherwise known as expressions of liberal cognitive dissonance.

"With socratic irony one pretends to not have knowledge that, in fact, they do. With liberal irony (a term i may coin), one pretends to have knowledge that, in fact, they do not." The reason i relish your "Fact of the Day" posts is that they cogently dispel liberal irony. You can quote me on that in the foreword of your next book.

LukeAmerica, your comment is practically a post in and of itself. It is the Deadeye Dick of comments. It is the Dick Trickle of "trickle-up-poverty" (a term I'd never heard before but plan on making my own). It satisfied, in short, the logomaniacal in me. For that I thank you, wish you life.

And so it goes...

Ahhh ... Kurt Vonnegut Jr. ... one of my favorite authors. Oh wait ... I've carelessly forgotten about the new PUre Thoughts cZar.

Vonnegut? Who would have the audacity to peruse the blasphemous writings of such an obviously reprobate curmudgeon? Maybe we should rise to our civic duty ... let's sponsor a good ole fascist book-burning rally.

It is so regrettable, Ray, that we have to struggle with the heavy burdens of these unbalanced dark ages. One day through joyous change ... if we resolutely cling to hope (not guns and religion) ... we shall ultimately attain the glory of the Age of Equality.

Moreover, my friend, rest assured that we are currently making notable strides at an increasing pace. Let not our hearts be troubled. Some of us today already have full cognizance of the debt of infinite gratitude we will soon owe to our distinguished representatives in the District of Competence.

They are gloriously leading the way for us. Relying on their blessed wisdom, our venerable egalitarian leaders are gleefully imposing the first steps of the transformation ... the welcome onset of the kingdom of economic equality ... through their abstrusely clever strategy of 'trickle-up poverty' coupled synergisticly, of course, with ever-escalating taxes.

If not in our own generation, we can at least strive to find solace that our children and grandchildren will be equal every which way. No one will be smarter than anyone else. No one will be better looking than anyone else. No one will be stronger or quicker than anyone else. And, no one will have more money or talent or determination than anyone else.

We must steadfastly remain reticent a few short years longer. The upcoming strategies of 'trickle-up submission' and 'trickle-up mediocrity' will purge the loathsome impurities of achievement, desire, excellence, and diligent work from our fallible and primitive independent minds.

Our only true obstacle, it seems, is the unyielding obstinance of those incorrigible, freedom-loving Tea Party patriots. The misguided convictions of those arrant knaves must be subdued ... post haste. Perhaps, though, they are merely mad from quaffing their caffeinated potables seasoned with a tinge of mercury.

When our compassionate leaders in the capital city finally do overcome the fatuous optimism of these right-wing extremists, serene peace and blissful joy will permeate the hearts and minds of one and all. Resistance is futile.

Let us have the audacity to hope, my cerebrotonic brother, for the change to come quickly.

Obedience shall become our new life. Control shall become our new liberty. And, duty to the single-minded society shall become our new pursuit of happiness.

All glory to our illustrious Kenyan comrade!
